"Summerbreeze" by Seals & Crofts

See the curtains hangin' in the window

In the evening on a Friday night
A little light-a-shinin' through the window
Lets me know every thing's all right

Summer breeze makes me feel fine
Blowin' through the jasmine in my mind
Summer breeze makes me feel fine
Blowin' though the jasmine in my mind

See the paper layin' on the sidewalk
A little music from the house next door
So I walk on up to the doorstep
Through the screen and across the floor

Summer breeze makes me feel fine
Blowin' through the jasmine in my mind
Summer breeze makes me feel fine
Blowin' through the jasmine in my mind

Sweet days of summer -- the jasmine's in bloom
July is dressed up and playing her tune
And I come home from a hard day's work
And you're waitin' there
Not a care in the world

See the smile awaitin' in the kitchen
Through cookin' and the plates for two
Feel the arms that reach out to hold me
In the evening when the day is through

Summer breeze makes me feel fine
Blowing through the jasmine in my mind
Summer breeze makes me feel fine
Blowing through the jasmine in my mind

I remember this song from my childhood, but that's not really when I fell in love it with.

It was on the second "Dazed & Confused" soundtrack.  Did you know they had two?  Well, they did and this song was on it.  I'd say it was the mid to late 90's and I was in university.  Joe, my then boyfriend/now husband, and I had already been together for at least 3 years.  We knew we would get married it was just waiting out time until my schooling was all finished.  (On an aside note, we got engaged on my last day of classes in '98.  We didn't wait long, but at that point we had been together for 7 years.)

As much as this song reminds me of my childhood it also was my dream of what I wanted my home to be like.  I knew I wanted a kitchen with a window over the sink so I could be at the counter working when Joe drove in the driveway from work.  Old fashioned and cliche, but true.  What can I say, I'm an old fashioned romantic.

Now I look at the song and realize that I pretty much got what I dreamt of.  How lucky am I?
